Palmlea Farms is a unique Eco Agritourism Farm raising Boer Goats.  Situated on the sunny north shore of Fiji's Vanua Levu Island.

The main goal is a cross-breeding programe with Palmlea Farms pure bred Boer Goats and with the local goats of Fiji to create a large National herd of Boer Meat Goats for Fiji.

CROSSBREEDING FOR PROFIT $$$

There is a serious need to use quality crossbreeding of pureblood Boer breeder bucks  to local Fijan does (female) in our programs for improving the meat production. Effect of crossbreeding on meat production improvement is significant.  The Boer goat has the ability to transmit its superior phenotypic characteristics to other breeds in Fiji when used for crossbreeding.

The outstanding characteristics of the Boer goat as a meat goat, make the breed a primary choice when selecting a breed for hardiness, adaptability, fertility and growth potential.  The Boer goat is one of the most hardy of all small stock breeds in the world.

Crossbreeding is probably the most misunderstood and underappreciated practice in commercial livestock production. Crossbreeding in Fiji is the mating of Palmlea Boer goat males to Fiji female goats of different local breeds.  Crossbreeding is the recommended breeding strategy for commercial meat goat production.
